I will review the definitions of certain knot invariants based on the geometry of symmetric products (Oszvath-Szabo) and Hilbert schemes (Khovanov, in its geometric version). An analogue of the localization map in equivariant cohomology provides a spectral sequence relating the two, and also allows one to define some additional (fairly mysterious) invariants.
