Abstract:
It seems unnatural to expect the center bundle of a partially hyperbolic dynamical system to integrate to a foliation, yet most examples of partially hyperbolic systems do just that. In this talk, I'll look at regularity conditions that guarantee integrability, and highlight the obstacles to finding systems with non-integrable center bundles. One such obstacle is the property of plaque expansiveness, which gives open sets of systems with integrable centers.Date: Tuesday, December 04, 2007
