Abstract:
We present aspects of recent investigations of the modular representation theory of various finite group schemes such as the elementary group Z/p x Z/p or the Frobenius kernel GLn(r). Since the representation theory is "wild", we seek partial information using invariants arising from algebraic geometry. Our underlying approach is to investigate p-nilpotent actions rather than semi-simple actions, for these control extensions. In large part, this work is joint with Jon Carlson, Julia Pevtsova, and Andrei Suslin.Date: Wednesday, May 19, 2010
