We introduce the so-called Swiss Cheese operad of Voronov, which interpolates between the $E_d$ and $E_{d-1}$ operads.  There is a simple homotopy-theoretic property of the Swiss Cheese operad from which follows a nice proof of the generalized Deligne conjecture: the Hochschild Cohomology of an $E_{d-1}$ algebra is an $E_d$ algebra.
