The goal is to provide background for the seminar talk "Dehn twists and free subgroups of mapping class groups" scheduled later that day. I shall focus on introducing the version of the Fukaya category of a symplectic manifold that we shall work with, and present different perspectives on generalised Dehn twists, notably as automorphisms of this category.
