Abstract:
We will study mixing properties of smooth flows on compact surfaces of genus >1. It turns out that such flows can be represented as special flows over irrational rotation or interval exchange transformation and with roof function satisfying some smoothness conditions. We will study mild mixing and k-mixing for k>2. In particular, we will deal with the famous Rokhlin problem, whether mixing implies higher order mixing for. The main tool is Ratner's property established by M. Ratner, while studying horocycle flows.Date: Tuesday, October 07, 2014
