Positivity of line of vector bundles have played a central role in the last half century of projective geometry; they have permeated the ares surrounding projective geometry as well. A good illustration is a conjecture of Bourbaki and Lang relating the positivity of the canonical bundle to the quantity of rational points on a projective manifold.

The aim of this introductory talk is to make a small inventory of the most common concepts, with a line of thought greatly influenced by birational geometry.
