I'll give an introduction to Courant algebroids. These play a basic role in Poisson geometry, since the double of a Lie bialgebroid is a Courant algebroid. (Compare with Drinfeld's double of a Lie bialgebra: this is a Lie bialgebra.) They also lie at the foundation of the theory of generalized complex manifolds.
