In this pretalk, I will introduce basics of conformal blocks and fusion ring, and I will outline a proof of Verlinde formula for the dimension of conformal blocks following Beauville's paper "conformal blocks, fusion rules and the Verlinde formula", and Kumar's unpublished book on Verlinde formula.
