I will give an informal talk on Toën and Vezzosi’s extension of the Chern character to a differential form on the derived stack of perfect complexes. I will start by defining this derived stack, by means of the explicit presentation I developed with Kai Behrend. Instead of Toën and Vezzosi’s use of the cobordism hypothesis to construct their differential form, I will construct an explicit representative using the negative cyclic complex for a certain (cofibrant, contractible) cosimplicial dg category.
