The derived moduli stack of a dg algebra $A$ can be realized as the simplicial derived scheme associated to the tensor product of $A$ with the simplicial dg algebra of normalized chains $C_*(\Delta^\bullet)$ on the cosimplicial space $\Delta^\bullet$. In this talk, I explain how replacement of the normalized chains by the unnormalized chains realizes the derived moduli stack of the idempotent completion of $A$.
