Abstract:
We study nonlinear dynamical systems where the dynamical variables have a complicated behavior, but order parameter dynamics is linear. In addition we assume a separation of time scales btween the order parameter dynamics and the motion of the dynamical variables. We show that the order parameters are attracted to states where the motion of the dynamical variables is periodic (Harmonicity Paradigm). We discuss experimental applications and relate this paradigm to other complex systems paradigms.Date: Friday, January 15, 1999
