I will describe current happenings at the NSF Division of Mathematical Sciences and speculate on the future of funding for mathematics at NSF. Based on my experiences as a program director at the NSF, I will offer some observations about what distinguishes proposals that get funded from those that do not. There will be ample opportunity for questions from the audience.
